Description
carving knives are constructed with high carbon steel blades that hold an edge extremely well and are easily maintained by simple stropping. Each blade is honed, polished, and affixed to an ash handle.
**Set of 4**- Includes one each of the Cutting Knife, Detail Knife, Pelican Knife, and Mini-Pelican Knife, in a protective roll case.
**Cutting Knife**- The Cutting Knife is a general-purpose carving knife that is great for beginners. It features a 1-1/8” (3 cm) blade, with a more rounded point that is very durable.
**Detail Knife**- The Detail Knife has a very fine point for making the very narrow cuts associated with detailing. Its straight 1-1/2" (4 cm) blade can accommodate larger stock removal if needed.
**Pelican Knife**- The curved 1-5/8" (4 cm) blade on the Pelican Knife offers a clean slicing action similar to a skew. The point is narrowed for a tight turning radius yet is still very durable. The Pelican cuts very well in hollow areas.
**Roughing Knife**- With a straight 1-3/4" (4.5 cm) blade, the Roughing Knife is ideal for heavier stock removal with a round durable point.
**Chip Carving Knife**- This short-bladed knife has a blade bevel length of 1" (2.5 cm) and is ideal for making triangular-shaped cuts for intricate designs.
**Handed Hook Knife**- The 7/8" (2.2 cm) curved blade is ideal for working in hollows for fast and easy stock removal. Right-handed carvers should choose a right-handed tool to cut toward yourself. If cutting away from yourself, choose a left-handed tool.
**Mini Detail Knife**- Ideal for very delicate cuts, the Mini Detail Knife’s 3/4" (1.9 cm) blade is made from ultra-thin material that will not disturb adjacent wood. The handle has multiple control points to cut in a variety of positions with ease.
**Skewed Detail Knife**- The slightly skewed 1-3/4" (4.5 cm) bevel gives users a different approach to detail or paring cuts. The knife’s handle shape can be held like a pencil or conventional knife.
